The Vajra Bhairav Shrine is a unique 15th-century temple located near Leh in Ladakh. This shrine is dedicated to a tantric deity of the Gelug-pa Buddhist order, who is known for possessing powerful supernatural abilities. Visitors are only allowed to view the deity once a year, as it is kept inside a chamber and is only accessible by high-ranking religious priests.
The temple is home to a collection of intimidating masks, sacred art, and vintage Thangkas with gold and silver illustrations. The dominant deities of this unique shrine are the famed Hindu warrior goddess Kali and the Tibetan supernatural being Vajra Bhairav. The Kadampa School initially cared for and ran the temple, which was eventually transferred to the Gelupka order and managed by Monarch Gragspa Bumideit.
The best time to visit the shrine is during the tourist season of Leh from June to September, as the extreme cold climate of Leh from November to March brings heavy snowfall and blocked roads.

इस मंदिर में खतरनाक मास्क, पवित्र कला और गोल्ड और सिल्वर चित्रों वाली विंटेज थंग्कास का संग्रह है। इस अद्वितीय मंदिर के प्रमुख देवताओं में प्रसिद्ध हिंदू योद्धा देवी काली और तिब्बती अलौकिक प्राणी वज्र भैरव शामिल हैं। मंदिर की देखभाल और संचालन कदम्पा स्कूल ने शुरू की थी, जिसे बाद में जेलुप्का ऑर्डर को सौंपा गया था और राजा ग्राग्सपा बुमिड़ेइत ने इसकी देखरेख की।
Visiting Timings:
The Vajra Bhairav Shrine is open for visitors from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. The shrine remains open all days of the week.

How to Reach:
The Vajra Bhairav Shrine is located 25 km away from Leh, and the best way to reach it is by travelling by car. Shared taxis and local buses are also available from Leh to the shrine.
वज्र भैरव श्राइन लेह से 25 किलोमीटर दूर स्थित है और इसे पहुंचने का सबसे अच्छा तरीका कार से यात्रा करना है। लेह से शेयर्ड टैक्सी और स्थानीय बसें भी मंदिर तक उपलब्ध हैं।
